Los Angeles Avenue
In the Bay Area, a kitchen's connection to the outdoors is paramount. With this home in the Berkeley hills, the connection to the back yard was impeded by two walls. Our first step was to remove the walls, replacing one of them with a set of French doors. We then remodeled the enlarged kitchen space, creating a bright, light-filled area for cooking, a small dining area and easy access to the yard. The new kitchen features custom cabinets, honed granite and walnut countertops, and a textural subway tile backsplash to play off the 1920's era of the house.
